🖥️ How I Can Help

Throughout my career I’ve worked with founders, CEOs, and small teams market and promote their products, services, & brands in order to increase revenue.

I’ve mainly worked with two kinds of companies: venture backed startups (internally and as an external advisor) and SMBs (typically the $1-5 million revenue range.)

With a firm understanding of a company’s goals, customers, and products, I excel at creating campaigns that get results.

📍 Location

Home Base: Vancouver, BC

Home Away From Home: Canmore, AB

Otherwise: 25 countries and counting…

I’m a big fan of memes & clever ads. Especially anything remotely offside like this funeral parlour billboard 😂

🚘 Projects I’m Open To

  • Short term marketing projects (external consultant)
  • Head of Growth/Marketing/CMO (internal, remote, or fractional)
  • Product role where growth (engagement, retention, activation & flywheels) is a key focus
  • Ideally I’d love to work in a future leaning and tech forward company and industry.
  • Preference: remote work but open to some time in office if Vancouver based.

🌐 Most Recent Work

CMO of the aerial imagery & blockchain company Spexi.com.

While at Spexi, I was also a Core Contributor at Spexigon.com: the first of its kind, Fly-to-Earn drone imagery platform powered by blockchain. (Spexigon was a Spexi product.)

Key Highlights

  • Successfully pitched the internal team on the idea of combining blockchain with their existing drone SaaS to create a new, two sided drone imagery marketplace powered by blockchain (Spexigon.com). This was a significant pivot for the team and company.
  • Helped the CEO raise a $5.5 million USD seed round at a $27 USD million valuation to build Spexigon and personally found three investors directly via cold outreach
  • Wrote the initial draft of the Spexigon Light Paper (the crypto economic paper that explained how the platform would work and how blockchain and tokens would play a role)
  • Worked with an external team to develop a new brand and launch a new website
  • Took the Spexigon drone pilot community from 0 to over 400 active members
  • Launched paid and organic campaigns that waitlisted over 1000+ drone pilots for the supply side of the Spexigon marketplace.
  • Coined the tagline “Fly-to-Earn” and created the category defining terminology “Current State Imagery”
  • Started building the marketing team with direct hires and external contractors
  • Helped begin the customer discovery process in order to tailor the company’s Go to Market Strategy & inform the Product Development roadmap.

🛠️ Skills

  • Digital Marketing Strategy & Go to Market Strategy
  • Leading a marketing team (internal and external)
  • Media buying (paid ads: Google, Facebook/Insta, TikTok, Linkedin, and more)
  • Content marketing planning & tactical execution
  • Tracking & Analytics
  • Lead generation
  • Email marketing (EMS setup, newsletters, copywriting, triggers & automations and more)
  • Public speaking & podcasting
  • Video (paid ads, teasers, promo pieces, script writing)
  • Customer Discovery & Sales
  • Using A.I for each of the items above

📘 What I’m Reading & Listening To

I’m an avid reader & love podcasts.

In addition to 100 physical books in my library at home, I have a growing collection of 200-300 books on my phone and am always in the process of reading 4-5 at any given time.

I tend to do deep dives on topics and will read 3-4 books and consume podcasts on topics I’m interested in deeply understanding. I’ve found this to be a great way to build knowledge and bring a variety of ideas and perspectives to my work.

Here’s are a few books (of many) that influence the way I think and work.

I’ve taken lessons from each of these authors and often revisit key ideas and sections I’ve highlighted to make sure I absorb something useful from each of them.

🌮 When Not Working

  • I hunt, hike, camp, and explore B.C and Alberta
  • I hunt deer, elk, and moose for clean food and for the hard work, adventure, & camaraderie
  • I take a lot of photos of my adventures, most of which I never share
  • I love seeing beasts in the wild 🦌
